News & Events
June Match Details:
(06/01/08)
It was a little warm, but 32 shooters still came out to celebrate Brandon's birthday and get in five great stages of fun. Match results can be found here.
April Match Details:
(4/06/08)
The range itself was still a little damp, but we still squeezed in five good stages and some beautiful weather for the 51 shooters (a new local match record) who showed up to
attend our first Tim Lott Memorial match. He wouldn't have said much about it, but I think he would have been happy. Match results can be found here.
March Match Details:
(3/02/08)
We were one short of our record attendance, but we still had a heck of a good time. We saw so many new faces this month it was hard to keep up with everyone, but it certainly
is nice to see this many people out there excited about shooting. Match results can be found here.
February Match Details:
(2/03/08)
The weather and the superbowl conspired to keep attendance down to only 25 shooters, but once again there were some new faces in the bunch and everyone had a good time. The best news of the match is that last month's DQ fest seems to be behind us as all those who stared the match finished it without issue. Thanks to Cliff and the safety briefings for helping us stay on track. Match results can be found here.
January Match Details:
(1/06/08)
They were thirty eight strong when the match began, but they suffered heavy casualties. As official leader of the DQ parade, I can say that the
weather was great, the people couldn't have been friendlier, and the stages (those I got to shoot) were a lot of fun.
Match results can be found here.
December Match Details:
(12/02/07)
Forty eight shooters and ten or so spectators (aka "soon to be shooters") made for the largest Magnolia local match on record. We kept the stages small and easy because we
knew it was going to be big, but we never expected this. Everyone seemed to enjoy the stages, almost as much as they enjoyed all the BBQ after the match. Thanks to everyone who came
out to make this match one for the books. Match results can be found here.
November Match Details:
(11/04/07)
We had a smaller than usual turnout today, and I hate it, because it meant a lot of folks missed a good one. A couple of really good fun stages, a couple of basic skills stages,
and one pray and spray carnival stage just to keep everyone guessing. I hope everyone had a good time. Match results can be
found here.
October Match Details:
(10/07/07)
Some tough stages today that challenged everyone but a little challenge is good sometimes. I hear it builds character. Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this one come together. Match results can be
found here.
September Match Details:
(09/02/07)
Wow, talk about Deja Vu'... once again Cliff mowed the grass and laid out the props and then the next day 36 shooters showed up to enjoy a great match. At least this
time he had some help from Scott Womack and Bud Berthold. Many thanks guys. Lots of new faces, some great stages including one state match quality gem, and just enough clouds to
keep it from realy getting bad. Match results can be
found here.
August Match Details:
(08/05/07)
When I rolled out of the garage this morning on the way to the range, I never expected I'd see 36 shooters show up for a match on one of the hottest
days of the year but that's just what happened. HUGE thanks to Cliff Cargill for getting the grass mowed on all the pistol bays on Friday and then pulling the props for every
stage on Saturday night so things would go smoothly this morning. Match results can be
found here.
July Match Details:
(07/01/07)
Thanks to everyone who came out for some early fireworks at Magnolia. We kept it short and easy out of respect for the heat and it
seemed to go pretty well. Thanks to Matt and Glenn and Danny for putting in sime extra time to get the steel ready for Steel Challenge.
Match results can be
found here.
June Match Details:
(06/03/07)
As the weather warms up, some of the regulars are staying in and staying cool, but the new shooters
are coming out in droves and we're happy to have them join us. It seemed like our stage designers were still in a
bit of a state match mood as the 26 shooters who came out to play had some really strong stages to contend with
but all did well. Congratulations to our winners.
Match results can be
found here.
2007 Mississippi Classic Match Details:
(05/18/07)
All the information on stages, vendors, and final match results can be
found here.
March Match Details:
(02/04/07)
Nine first timers, four full sqads, five stages, and 35 shooters on a beautiful Spring day made this
one feel just like a mini State Championship. Thanks to everyone who came out for their first match and big thanks
to all those who worked hard to make sure all our guests had a great time.
Match results can be
found here.
February Match Details:
(02/04/07)
What a great match! Beautiful weather, lots of hard working shooters setting up and running some clever stages.
Match results can be
found here.
December Match Details:
(12/03/06)
Small turnout and some chilly weather but we still had a good time. Match results can be
found here.
November Match Details:
(11/5/06)
Thanks to everyone who came out to the match today, especially those who drove long distances to attend
like the guys from the New Orleans area, Baton Rouge, and even South Dakota. Match results can be
found here.
October Match Details:
(10/1/06)
Well, the weather was a little warm for October but the overall turnout was strong. This is
the first October in a long time that we haven't been busy preparing for a State Match but with five stages and 144 round
minimum, it definitely had a state match feel. Match results can be
found here.
September Match Details:
(9/3/06)
We had good turnout, nice weather, and some really good stages again today. Big thanks to the
Region II Silhouette Shooters who let our match cohabitate with theirs today. Match results can be
found here.
August Match Details:
(8/6/06)
The turn out was a little smaller than we might have hoped for but with fewer shooters we were able to complete the match
that much faster. If you ask me, this was the perfect August match: a new 06 classifier, two fun little speed shoots, and a couple of tricky
(yet low prop) field courses. Thanks to Matt Moorer, Glen Whitfield, Bill Cheney, and Bryant Chaffin for the stage designs. These things
were a blast. Match results can be
found here.
July Match Details:
(7/2/06)
Nice breezes and temps in the mid 70's made for a really pleasant match. At least that's
how I remembered it when I came to after my heatstroke. Good stages, a smoothly run match, and pizza and sangria at the Berthold's pool
after the match made for a nice afternoon. Match results can be
found here.
June Match Details:
(6/6/06)
Our first match using all of the new pistol bays. While the turnout was kind of low, the match and new layout was a big success. Big thanks to our host Range Magnolia Rifle and Pistol Club for hooking us up with some first class facilities. Match results can be
found here.
April Match Details:
(4/2/06)
Well it was the last IPSC match at magnolia before the State Championship next month and
it was a good one. Nice weather, a good crowd, some good stages, and lots of fun. Match results can be
found here.
March Match Details:
(3/5/06)
Who doesn't like a good classifier match and with prone, kneeling, weak hand, etc. there was something
there for everyone. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the turnout matched it. Match results can be found here.
February Match Details:
(2/5/06)
Only four stages this month but they were four good ones. Lots of shooting and lots of fun. Thanks to
everyone who came out, especially to those who came early to help set up or stayed late to help tear down.
Match results can be found here.
January Match Details.:
(1/1/06)
Looks like everyone had fun at Magnolia once again. I hate I missed the match but I'll be there next month for sure.
Match results can be found here.
December Match Details:
(12/04/05)
Another month, another great match, weathermen still don't have a clue. Sorry to those of you who stayed home because of the

November 3-Gun Match Details:
(11/20/05)
Well, the Mississippi State 3-gun Championship (Jr. Edition) in now in the record books. Six stages, a dozen competitors,
and even some spectators. For winter 3-Gun at Magnolia, this was the big time. Match results can be found here.
November Match Details:
(11/06/05)
The first match back after the state match is usually kind of lack luster but today's match was really great. Good
stages, a good crowd, and I managed not to shoot myself in front of my mom. I'm calling that a success. Details and scores can
be found here.
2005 Mississippi Classic Match Details:
(10/10/05)
Details and scores can for the 2005 Mississippi Classic have been moved here.
September Match Details:
(09/18/05)
Everyone needs a good confidence destroyer going into the state championship and this match had mayhem in spades. The
Texas Star, plates from afar, and a cigar box that could swallow Sammy whole. Thanks to Robbie and Bryant for bringing some killer
stages. Details and scores can be found here.
August Match Details:
(08/07/05)
Another month, another match, and another record turnout. Things at old Magnolia just keep getting better and better if
you're an IPSC shooter. All classifier's this month brought occasional moments of "the joy of victory" and more than a few runs
ending in "the agony of defeat". Details and scores can be found here.
July Match Details:
(07/03/05)
I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th...and by "everyone" I of course mean all those of you who don't
design stages that require shots through low ports. Grrr. Anyway, details and scores can be found here.
June Match Details:
(06/05/05)
Well, I had a great time today and that's about all I can say right now. Maybe I'll be more creative after my nap.
In the meanwhile, details and scores can be found here.
May 3-Gun Match Details:
(05/15/05)
I had a great time at the range today shooting 3-gun with all my friends and I really learned a lot.
Jeff and Pat showed us that any target under 100 yards should be considdered a pistol target, Tommy and Matt showed us all sorts of new ways to RO a shooter from a distance,
and Amanda taught me that you can turn hard cover into soft cover in a flash if you have a 12ga. handy.
Seriously though, this match
was a lot of fun. Thanks to Matt and Jack for coming up with today's stages.
Details and scores from today's 3-Gun match can be found here.
May Match Details:
(05/01/05)
Ok, I'm not sure what's going on but this is our third month in a row to have beautiful cool weather and thirty seven shooters
for our local match. I hope everyone had a good time and I look forward to seeing you all in a couple weeks for the May 3-Gun match.

Thoughts on Travelling:
(04/28/03)
I recently attended USPSA matches in Poplarville, MS and Tangi, LA and had a great time at both.
It got me thinking and I have to say that if you're a USPSA shooter and you're not travelling to area matches other
than at your home club, you're really missing out. The more you shoot, the better you get and there are
opportunities to shoot every weekend of the month within a reasonable drive. In addition to getting to shoot next to
some of the top shooters in the nation, the fellowship provided by the road trip to and from the match is second to none.
Check the Area Shooting Calendar and join us.
Area 4:
(04/28/03)
The deadline for submitting your entry form for the 2003 Area 4 Championship is fast approaching. Quite a few
of the TeamMagnolia crew are planning to attend this year and it should be a great match. Contact
Bryant for details if you're interested in joining us.
Match Results:
(04/06/03)
We had a strong turnout for the April match despite the gloomy weather predictions and those who chose
to take a chance on coming out were rewarded with a great match completed well before the rains arrived. Some
challenging stages, a pleasant breeze, and hard working squads made for a really nice time for everyone.
Congratulations go to Bryant, Mike, Bud, and Tommy on their respective wins. Complete match details can be
found here.
TeamMagnolia on the Road:
(03/24/03)
TeamMagnolia had three shooters attend the Shirley Skinner Make a Wish benefit match in Waco, TX this month. All three shooters
"brought home wood" for their accomplishments. Mike Boyd - 2nd C Limited 10, Nick Boyd - 1st C Limited and High Junior,
and Bryant Chaffin who knocked off one of the top 20 GM's in the nation along with a handful of master class shooters to take
1st A Limited and 2nd Limited Overall. FYI, you'll find Mike and Bryant listed on the USPSA "Top 20 in Class" list. For my sake,
I hope Nick makes it there soon. Ever think about trying B class Nick? Oh well, congratulations to all.
A Big Thank You:
(03/24/03)
Our thanks go out to Bud, Matt, Jack, and the gang for putting on the IPSC Demo at the Magnolia RPC Annual Meeting.
The demos went quite well from what I've been told and we may even get some new shooters at next month's match as a
result of your efforts.
Thanks also to the Tangi Practical Shooters in Amite Louisiana. A number of the TeamMagnolia crew
made the drive down south this weekend for some good company, some good food, and some really good shooting. Thanks guys for
putting on another great match. If you're interested in checking out a Tangi match or any of the other local clubs, check out the
new TeamMagnolia Area Shooting Calendar for a listing of dates and times.

Team Shirts:
(11/6/02)
We have begun looking into getting some team shirts embroidered with a club logo. Currently we're evaluating having Lands' End digitize our logo so that it can then be applied to any Lands' End merchandise. This will allow club members to order high quality club logo merchandise in the size, color, and style of their choosing at any time for a small per-item embroidery fee. If you have any comments or recommendations, please let me know.
